A 34-year-old man from Essex has been charged with
stealing an ambulance in London, while paramedics were dealing with an
emergency.

The London Ambulance Service vehicle was taken in the early hours of 13
November outside a property in Well Street, Hackney.

An hour later, it was tracked down to Seventh Avenue in Chelmsford.

A man from Chelmsford has been charged with theft of the vehicle and failing
to provide a specimen of breath.

He has also been charged with one count of taking a vehicle without the
owner’s consent and one count of being in possession of a Class B drug.

He has been released on police bail prior to his appearance at Chelmsford
Magistrates Court on Friday.
